Brief overview

MUAU stands for "Mezlux's Untitled Animal Universe."

MUAU is the placeholder name for a fictional universe I made far back around 2016. Ever since then, I've been trying think about a direction to take it in, but I'm still very unsure. Because of this lack of direction, the story and world is constantly being rewritten and is subject to change.

Trust me, it is very subject to change. One character went from "Self-insert God OC" to "Monarch with god-like powers" then to "Prince" and after even more rewrites, "Introvert with a plant hobby."

Currently, there's no major plot. There are 4 "full" characters with designs and stories so far, and a few others that are a part of some backstories that aren't fully made yet. The most I could say about the world is it's filled with unique fantasy creatures, species, and landscapes. The "people" are anthropomorphized animals who use various different types of magic for everything from gardening to warfare.

The project is much fuller with worldbuilding and concepts now! It still has a long way to go though... New sections of this page have been added to reflect some of the work done.

Primary cast

MUAU has four primary characters... and no they aren't a Mother reference.

Leafy (also known by his real name Lucas) is a cat who is strong with Life magic, holding the capability to heal deep wounds, and create lively constructs. He prefers to use his magic for gardening, however. He's very quiet and reserved; sometimes coming off as apathetic or aloof.

Robert is a loud and brash rabbit with decent control over Wither. Although he's struggling and doesn't have the greatest start in life at the moment, he can perform reasonably well at music and has a very good friend...

Rachel is an energetic, passionate, and geeky rabbit who wields the power of Electrifying magic. Her hobbies include gaming, tinkering, experimenting, learning, and a bunch of rather niche ones. She tends to do a lot of rough hobbyist work with machines and tools. Though she's very intelligent, she has years of experience before becoming a professional at her hobbies.

Brittany is a Flame-wielding, formal, and kind fox, never wanting to step boundaries or encite chaos. She's devoted to her culture, is the daughter of a prominent priest, and is widely popular across her town. She also happens to be a member of a local performance group. Though her outward appearance may show otherwise, she's under a lot of pressure to maintain her good image.

Creatures

The "People" are simply anthropomorphic animals that run the world. Basically, humans if they were interesting. They can cast magic effectively and have great potential with it.

A lot of the "lower" lifeforms, like plants, animals, etc. which are going to be mostly original creatures for three reasons: I'd like to keep things interesting and ethereal, I'd like to imagine how these creatures would adapt and evolve to their capabilities to wield magic, and lastly, I don't want to cause another Pluto-Goofy Paradox. If you know, you know. Plants, simple animals, and other non-intelligent life can cast magic as well, just not to the degree intelligent life can.

Constructs are forms of artificial life that arise from someone well-versed in Life magic. They are usually very loyal to both their creators, and their creator's will. Many people use them as helpful companions, tools, and to automate laborious tasks. Ocassionally, animals may use the power of Life magic to create very simplistic constructs.
